handset nostalgia : 3315 -> N73

.. might be a small change of a handset, but a giant leap for till-now-small-time users like me ;-)

Mar 2003. Got a new mobile handset, Nokia 3315. Mother got it from Singapore. I was amongst the first to be using a cell phone while in college. I still remember how I used to buy cover after cover for the piece to keep it neat scratch-free. Not until I used it for 4 long years and felt the need to have something more. :-)

Then started an extensive search and research for different handsets. Clauses were many. Battery life, sound quality, camera and a well-defined search for a a one-stop-shop for every facility. Maybe, my colleagues might give you an eye-witness info regarding my search. ;-) With a dedicated window always open for mobile handsets sites.

After getting some hands-on on other mobiles, I decided to go in for a Nokia. Now, this maybe, because the migration from my 3315 to other brands seemed difficult for me. You may get used to it. But then, there were other clauses too.

Felt a little nostalgic to shelf my old handset. I am gonna keep it, not giving into the 500/- offered by the mobile dealer for my precious Nokia 3315 . . .

18 Aug 2007 | Sivasamudram & Talakadu | Bike trip

I was planning for this kind of a trip since long. Amidst time & work constraints,
this plan could materialize only last Saturday. Five of us started on Sat morning:
Myself, Harsha, Girish, Krishna Murthy and Jayachandra. For those who don't know
we happened to be together during our Grads.

We started at around 07:00 from here. I had heard that you get good traditional breakfast at Kamat, near Channapatna. We prepared to have our next halt there. Had something known as 'Mude Idly', an idly made within a wrapped leaf. Don't know exactly which one.

For reaching this place, Sivasamudram, we had to take a deviation from the Highway near Mad
dur. For info, proceed along with the highway, without entering into the town, and you will come to a point where the road splits. Signboards are at help everywhere. The road was great till this point, but we had to settle in for a bumpy ride from there on, till the falls.

En route, we came across two old temples. One of them was this Lakshmi Narasimha Temple near MaLavalli.

We reached the falls at about 11:00. It was a wonderful sight with the water flow at it's peak, owing to a good monsoon. Most of you must have heard of this place: Sivasamudram. A place where the river Cauvery splits into two and falls down from a steep height forming two sets of falls: Gaganchukki & Bharachukki. Water is abundant around this time of the year.

We started for Talakadu at 3PM. The 20km stretch to that place was horrible. For our bikes, but it would surely be a nightmare for 4-wheelers. Hope they put on a proper road very soon. Talakadu, comes further upstream of the river. The river seems pretty calm at this place. Deep flow of water over the plains. Talakadu is mostly covered with sand. People had a story about it, about a curse put by the Queen of Srirangapatna to the King of Mysore, as a punishment to his greed for her money. But I prefer to look at other answers. Would let you know once I get them. ;-)

The ride back from Talakadu was awesome. With darkness already set in, we started Talakadu at 7PM, ready for a ride of around 150kms, back to Bangalore. Reached back at 11PM. It was a wonderful trip and we had a great time . . . :-)

Chak De

:-)

Happened to see this movie on Webnesday. Having taken a '50 ka 100 mein'
ticket, I was well determined not to miss even the trailors and whatever ads.
Got to catch a short trailor of the Madhuri-comeback, 'Aaja Nachle', due this
Nov.

I would say Shah Rukh Khan was at one of his best. In an attire different from his usual
lover-boy style. No scene was felt unnecessary right from the beginning to the end.
I personally felt the movie was going pretty fast. The film shows most the state of affairs
in the sport of Hockey, lack of spirit and interest in the association, differences among team
members etc. And also the fallacy of the media nowadays, by showing how a
simple handshake, after losing, with the opposing team captain, can outburst as match fixing
in the sport fans.

No heroin, no songs, except for that title track. I heard that team of 16 members shown in
the movie was a mix of actors and sports persons. I liked the girl playing the goal keeper ;-)

Go and watch it. It's a good one. Mostly shot in Delhi, National Stadium. :-)

Aftermath of Chicken Pox

And, finally, my second post, after a gap of 5 months.

Lots of events happened in between. My sister tied the knot on the 9th of May.
Work allotted to me in office got badly hit by the leaves I had taken. As if it
was not enough, I got infected with chickenpox virus 10 days later.

My Mother had told me while I was leaving after marriage, to come and stay with
her for sometime. I got the chance again, within 15 days. Came back to Bangalore
after a good 10 day stay at home.

..my first post . . .

Hmmmm . . Got another space on the www to scrap something about my myself, daily happenings and much more. All this. after creating a so-so kind of website on Yahoo ! Geocities. That was way back when I was in high school.

Well, now that I have access to something like a personal-diary on the Net, let me start . . . Keep watching this space to know more about me and my experiences in daily life. I hope to bog almost every day, provided my Manager doesn't watch me over my shoulder ;-)
